I used to call my car Bess and each new(er) car was called the same. Now we have Colin the Corsa, Freddie the Fiesta...and of course Betty the bay....all named by the ( current) wife.
Never have named any of my vehicles - ever. However, there is a lady who lives a few doors up from us - who not only names her cars but actually buys little stick on chrome letters and puts that name (always male) on the back - she is currently going out with "Oscar".
We had a yellow Cinquecento Sporting ... Brilliant to drive, didn't rust, and built with strong eco principles in mind .... Took us a while to realise that maybe we shouldn't be calling it "the yellow chinkie"
I've just bought a 2006 Touran which my mum and dad have christened Fanny Adams because the reg number begins FA. I never thought I'd have a boring dads'car but I do like Fanny...
Whatever work van I have at the time always inherits the name “The Vanborghini” when I do eventually get a bus, I’ve already decided it’s going to be called “The Falcon” as in the Millennium Falcon, because when Luke Skywalker sees it for the first time he exclaims “What a piece of junk!” And when The Princess is rescued in it she says “you came in that thing? You’re braver than I thought”. Seems kinda fitting.
I haven’t either but drove my dad’s company estate, and a few 5cwt vans. They were a bit of a handful when taking a load in the back weren’t they. I did have a girlfriend called Marina who I quickly nicknamed Morris. I’ll leave it at that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Don’t call my vehicles by human names. Sort of weird, really. Sons burgundy corsa is nicknamed ‘The Plum’, though. And I did have a 1976 Datsun 100A, which I transplanted a 1.5 Stanza Engine into, and re-sprayed Talbot Horizon Green. It became known as ‘The Flying Pea’. Which was nice.
I think all my cars have had names Current volvo is Walter, but he was preceded by Henry, Winston, Harvey, Victor, Olaf, Lars and Trig. Plus the camper is Clem, of course.
