We’ve all seen them, those strange characters that wander our city streets dressed as though they’re on their way to a funeral, or a punk rock show… Or quite possibly both. Their very presence exudes a sort of darkness, steeped in the love of all things morbid, and a seeming love affair with death. Their anthems come from the likes of Siouxsie and the Banshees, Type O Negative, and Bauhaus, bands who seem to be able to perfectly encompass all the things strange. Goth Day encourages us to celebrate these fine fellows, and maybe take a dip into their world ourselves, after all, while the light is lovely, can it not also be blinding? I've not been through a Goth phase yet, but if I did I'd probably have to rebel a bit ...
I rather like Goths. They are good at looking the part. I liked the car programme where Victor Meldrew man was visiting Whitby in a Morris Minor and had some Goths in the car with him. He had to hand over the driving to a massive Goth with big boots on cos he couldn’t sort the gears on the hills
Was never a goth but I’ve always worn black and I’m a miserable sod! Posted it before but just in case..!
I .. don't .. believe .. it!! Living near Whitby we get regular goth invasions and they are by and large, the most gentle and pleasant people.
