“Exterminate! Exterminate!” If you’re a fan of Doctor Who these words will send you into a quick panic attack, or have you running to the TV to see the latest episode. Doctor Who has been with us for a very long time, and the Daleks are his longest ongoing and most feared enemy, ultimately responsible for the destruction of Gallifrey in the Time War.

Dalek Remembrance Day is a recognition of the first time that the Daleks appeared on Doctor Who in 1963. It’s been celebrated as the day that the most instantly recognisable aspect of the show, outside of the TARDIS itself, came into existence.

I've lost interest in Dr Who of late, but I do like a Dalek.

I drove one once at Butlins, Minehead. They had 3 there. You could get in them and for 10p drive them around. They were limited to only a few feet as they had power cables coming out of the bottom of them. That was around 1972. I believe they are part of the massive Dr. Who exhibition, in Wales, now, along with all the other Dr. Who stuff from around the country. Longleat Estate in Wiltshire had a load of Who stuff, that also ended up there.

  13. Why, when I do a partial search on Google for “Dalek”, does the first suggestion come up as “Dale Winton”?

    Odd.

Oooh how did I miss this? I do love a good Dalek, they're fab. I would actually rather like one, y'know, just to lurk in the corner of the lounge.....

If it were that would be very cool, and I would be the hippest kid on the block. Sadly I think we both know the answer.... :D
