Winter 1972. My wife and I didnt do it to show off......we had seen several highly paid Shell Oil Company guys drive home at the end of their contracts, in Land Rovers. ($$$) As us "mere contractors" we classed them as "Wan#$%s"! We set out to prove that a VW was very capable in the Desert, except for the ground clearance. T2 was the answer if you had one. Granted we had to be towed out by a passing Landy a couple of times, but we made it in one month, having sufferred one puncture, and the speedo cable broke. Young people today, have no chance of doing this trip, as you will very likely get robbed and / or murdered. We have some slides of the trip somewhere, but they need converting to Digital, but hopefully soon I will be able to post Tony
Man i bet those slides would be good to see , we did similar thing's in the 70's in our camper going abroad and not taking pics etc , we have a few but not many .
I will try and look out the box of slides tomorrow, my brother in law who lives in our village has the gear to copy the slides. Actually, I would love to see the pictures again, as I cant remember how many pictures or what we took. Tony

Slice of verge from avoiding pilgrims in North Norfolk, we found a verge full of moguls, I didn't notice how large they were until the front wheel left the ground. I do love a tested design...similar suspension worked on a panzer 4, works on a VW 8)
