Timing...

  1. Not sure which way to go. 1700 WO code. I have a 009 fitted at the moment. Can't find my Tom Wilson book but its running sweet at 5 degrees ATDC. Anyone have a better suggestion? Planning to get it up on the rolling road on Friday but have to get it there first, I'd rather not blow it up or overheat it on the way
    :)

  2. Hmm,,should be 7,5 btdc

  3. Mine ran crap when it was set at TDC never mind after it:confused:

  4. I thought with the 009 the idle timing doesn't really matter it is the full advance timing you want. I.e. 28 or 32 degrees btdc. I may be wrong and I am sure an expert will be along to correct me in a minute :)

  5. The timing mark is through the removable cover on top of the fan housing , red mark which is for the
Bosch k jet injection and is not TDC , I guess you have swopped the pulley or remarked it ? But as said for 009 its 28 at 3000 rpm

  6. Yes I have a marked fan. Will run it up at 3000. At 7.5 btdc tickover (can only guess rpm) its popping and spitting
    :)

  7. I believe full advance is near as dam it 3000 revs, or that is how I timed my 009 before I fitted a rv counter, then brought the mark onto the crack (tdc). If that makes sense

  8. Never measured it static but 32btdc @ 3000 rpm was good for my 1700 on a 009.
It did pop a little at tickover but that was mainly the exhaust I'd fitted.
