Thrust Bearing

  1. Hi
It looks like my main thrust bearing is on its way out and its getting increasingly difficult to engage first and second although once up to speed the bus runs OK. What are my options?

  2. I doubt it is you thrust bearing ,sound like gearbox problems or worn linkage ,change the linkage first...

Thrust bearing will effect all gears...

  3. Is your clutch adjusted properly?

  4. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

If you hear it rattling when you rest you foot lightly on the clutch the release bearing is on it's way out. What Snotty said. ^ There should be very approx 1" free pedal travel - test with your hand.

  5. Thanks for all your points so far, there is a knocking sound when I am stationary but in gear and some vibration coming through the clutch pedal if this helps.
