Throttle cable stuck.

  1. So my accelerator cable snapped just near the pedal. A clean break so I undo the cable at carb and pull it through. Only to find it seems to be stuck behind the fan shroud. It just won't budge. I pushed the new cable through but that seems stuck in same place. Help please.

  2. Can you reach behind the shroud and feel if the tube has come adrift? Might be the ferrule on the cable end fouling as it goes into the flexi conduit. As a last resort, you can get under the van and just feel the conduit end.

  3. No I can't reach around the back. Can I get to it from under the bus? This is turning into a nightmare. How is the new one going to fit?

  4. It IS awkward . You really need to reach around the fan housing to feel what`s happening , there`s no other way i`m afraid ...

    ( Assuming it`s a 1600... )

  5. Weeeel, it can be done, but it's unpleasant. Rear wheel off, then reach right up behind the transmission hanger. Helps if you have long skinny arms.

Sometimes if you fiddle with the tube at the rear of the fan shroud it can pop back into the bowden cable and let the throttle cable slide through.
