If there’s a two lane carriageway with a single speed camera on it and 2 cars cross the sensor lines at exactly the same speed (which, in case @Pudelwagen asks, was above the stated limit) at exactly the same time, which one gets a fine? Hmmm...?
They can’t do both, I think the cameras are set up to take a photo of one lane or the other so the reg number is clear, aren’t they?
They have the marking on each lane so they can tell if one or both are speeding....they can get the reg off of both. That's why cameras on single carriageways have marking in both sides of the road, so if some smart Arse drives down the wrong side the marking still give them reference points they can prove speed from.

The driver who decides to go to court and spend money on an expert who can explain how RADAR speed traps are unreliable evidence. He gets off. I once worked with somebody who had basically invented the low cost Doppler RADAR units used in speed traps. He had a nice side line standing up for the defence in court as an expert and explaining how crap it was for measuring speed on behalf of various motorists. However if you were photographed twice one second apart, and the distance travelled can be measured that is pretty clear evidence. The type that use RADAR and just take a picture to get the numberplate.. welll ...
