Am I right in thinking the there should be some tinware here. The one on the right now has a pipe for the cold start so I expect ill need to modify one some how
There should be a small piece each side bolted to the cylinder head tin, but the big hole in your pic is to let the heated cooling air out. That's a very shiny engine.
Yep, that's the left hand one, the right hand one is cut out for warm air pick-up pipe. You can't beat EliteVW on price. They must have run out of battered old push-rod tubes. Had a couple for customers and they do what they say on the tin. They're good if it goes wrong too, so long as you don't loose temper and pee them off - like anyone really. Mick who runs the workshop's a nice bloke. Mick you runs the office - hmmm...
That's one of the bits that screw to the cylinder head tin. There's another differently-shaped bit for the other side. These, and the lower plates you've got, act as the "exhaust" for the cooling air.
I need one for the other side then as I skanked this of my old 1300 lump. Don't suppose anyone has one handy do they?!?
Is this the tin a need http://www.vwheritage.com/vw_spares...87035_lang_EN_country_GB.htm?crumbStartPage=1
That's the one, it's been photo'd from inside the engine if you see what I mean. You'd see other side of it what fitted. Cockney charm - you must be right. Down to earth I'd say. I don't think getting hoity toity with them would get you brownie points. I had a noisy one and workshop mick drove a replacement up in the boot of his beamer and stopped for a good chat. Great service and unbeatable prices. What's not to like for a camper on a budget?
