    Yeah....

    Buy a new gauge.

    Seriously though, could be anything. Engine, coil, wiring etc.

    Probably needs a diode in line to smooth out the signal

    Ours did the same random flickering; a diode sorted it out successfully.

    @mikedjames told us how to connect it I think
