The Texas VW Classic 2011- Now with 20min of bonus video!

It was 3 days and 2 nights of camping, BBQ, beer, raffles, bonfires, vendors, swap meet tables and finally the judging. I had a mild flu so I was a fairly good boy. Then Saturday night I lost it. We partied like rock stars until 4am.
All vehicles that were entering the show had to enroll Sunday morning between 7 and 8. I finally woke up at 9:00, fever & chills. So I didn't get to enter, but we sure had fun anyway.

This was almost 1/5 of us at Ladybird Memorial Park.


That would be Mexican for G.I. Joe. Thought that was hilarious.


And this would be a primitive Texan Automated Teller Machine. Invented to fight bank hold-ups and stage coach robbery related deaths.




After just 2 vodka and grapefruit juices I actually inserted my key into the door of the wrong bus. That's really the sort of thing you think will never happen when you drive a 32 yr old VW.



Lining up for our scenic drive through the country.




And we're off.


Home, home on the range,... where the deer and the antelope playyyy,.....


And if we would all look to our left, we see a real cow, grazing in a Texas pasture. Everybody moo!


Up ahead we have a bull and 2 cows attempting to cross the road.


Now the male is asserting his dominance in front of the females by literally ramming the passing VWs. with his massive horns. If everybody would please now place their heads between their knees and no mooing this time thank you. Driver look lively.


Now safely back at The Ladybird we see this inventive enthusiast has made a small trailer out of a vintage refrigerator. If he keeps his cooler in his trailer his ice should last until around Christmas I should think.






And this is my dream bus. It's the color Buckminster should have been. (green or jaffa would have done nicely as well. )







Even with that alarming upholstery, I believe this bus was the overall show winner. Admittedly, the paint was flawless.



Looks like a young Linda Blair had one of her unfortunate digestive incidents after a run-in with a rather large serving of Skittles in there.


Somebody's had a bit too much excitement for one day.

That yellow is the only colour to have though it wasn't my colour of choice I wanted a green one.

And in thy picture of the flawless green and white split there is a matt black bay with white stripes. I've used his bus in the stripes section. Looks great.
