The Saville Enquirys

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by b0dyr0ck2006, Dec 9, 2012.

  1. It would be nice to have an adult conversation about this without it being locked. I realise this is a bit of a risky subject but I'm hopeful we can have an mature discussion.

I find it amazing at how many people are being pulled in and being fingered (probably the wrong word to use ;)) as being part of this 'ring' of shame. And the positions that some of these people hold.

To be honest though many of them have always been a bit suspect, as there are many more that seem suspect. Even today.

Why has it taken so long for this to come to light? Is it because people in high places can afford to keep things quiet?

This isn't a discussion about the actions, that I think we can all agree is wrong, but the surprising amount of allegations that have suddenly appeared.

i try not to follow all the headlines and will wait until people are charged and then convicted.

saville seams to be kids witch there is no excuses.
Others seam to be older and may be more of a sign of the time as all the issues seam to be based in the 70s the age of the groupies.

  3. It most certainly seemed to be the thing to do in them days. I don't follow the news (I end up angry at the tv) but I have the sky news app which randomly pops up headlines.

  4. Allegations are just that, allegations. Let's wait to see what comes to court in most of these cases.

Regarding Saville himself, it does seem that he was up to no good, given the evidence in the public domain. However, this just serves to highlight that many people knew what was going on and did nothing about it. Was this down to fear of Saville himself, or did he have dirt on someone in authority who kept things under wraps? Anyway, he's dead now and we will likely never know.

  5. Also, how do the media know when and where to turn up to see people being arrested under this enquiry? Surely it's up to the police to deal with suspects fairly and not subject them to trial by media?

Nobody gave a monkeys in those days. It's only now that we like to big ourselves up and be holy that it's newsworthy.

  8. These are high profile people, when cases have gone to court the victims are not believed up until these latest revelations. Many of them go on to develop drink or drug problems as a result of what they went through, so they become unreliable in the eyes of the court. This is what the perpetrators relied on.

  9. It wasn't right in the 70's but many an eye was turned, as I understand it.

With regards to how the media know where to be. Do you really think they don't still have fingers in many pies, even after the news of the world (and others) fiasco?

  10. yup , i would certainly agree re "them at top of so called totem pole get away with it (for quite some time anyhow) may seem off post but, of all the people who have gone "missing" and been searched for, all (i think)but Lord Lucan have been found , now , (stroking chinie chin chin) i wonder why that may be.?(no, not because he was part of the (lower) "establishment")Honestly thou" which ones , in your op. were always a bit suspicious ? and why? > to be fair to anyone here , i rarely have seen much tv when these peeps seem to have been popular /made there mark re media spotlight

  11. Don't know lord Lucan. I still think the madeline case is fishy.

    But off topic. Lol

I'm not referring to 9 yr olds, but I knew plenty of perfectly well adjusted 14 year olds who nowadays wouldn't be allowed to be themselves without someone being arrested. Wierd when at the same time children are subjected to internet porn and seem to think they should behave like the stars. We think there's a a hoo-ha going on now, but in 10 years time this is going to look pathetic. Rather than looking back an tut-tutting, I suggest we should be looking at present day life and having a fit.

when my aunties were in their early teens they willingly entered the dressing rooms of the touring groups such as kiss, slade, cream etc when they came to norfolk, it was just what happened, they are no worse off for it now and knew exactly what they were doing!

now controversial as it sounds, very few of these saville victims came forward when he was alive, i doubt that all are true and that there is probably a proportion who are just trying to grab some cash! a lot of the victims knew exactly what they were doing and werent actually forced and gained in the way of tickets to shows etc!(again not that i'm condoning it, just playing devils advocate)
more disgustingly what about the parents who allegedly took pay offs to silence their children, how do they feel now knowing they've essentially whored out their children? they should be named and shamed too imo!

    just my ten penneth!
