How would I go about getting on it with something old that needs fixing? My mother has an old painting of her father, that was painted by an Italian POW when he was a Military Policeman, in a camp he worked in. As there was no canvas, it was painted on the back of an old wardrobe, then cut out and later put in a frame. It’s pretty old now and has a crack in it due to the wood maybe drying out over time, and it’s never been cleaned or restored. I’ve probably put a pic of it up at one time or another on here in the show me the last pic you took etc. Just wondering, as it is of great sentimental value to my mum and it actually really is a good likeness of him. I don’t really know about how to go about it. You can see the crack at about his eye level. Don’t know what paint it is, but I know it’s not watercolour. TIA
It's a great story and would surely be worthy of The repair shop .I guess its just a case of send them an email an see what response you get .Good luck
Yes. That’s who I got my Skillet resto idea from sort of. Him and a little Irish fella from YouTube. I’ve seen a few of his stuff on there though. Clever guy.
Did you not have a 356 project some years ago ? I can remember buying some spares from you and you showing me a Porsche in your garage .
1966 912 very cool but very expensive to restore , it went and I bought a T4 motor home instead I have restored a few though
Its at the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum at Singleton, just up the road from West Dean Gardens. They have Repair Shop open days when they are not filming and you can poke your nose into the barn and have a look. https://www.wealddown.co.uk/the-repair-shop/ And there is a Repair Shop sign in the museum gift shop for selfies on most days.. and piles of Repair Shop related books to buy... when you cant get closer than about 100m.. The restaurant is pretty good, you dont have to pay to get in.. Not repair shop.. We went on one general open day (not Repair Shop open day) when somebody was casting a bronze age design axe head using copper that came from the bronze age mine on the Great Orme in Wales.. they claimed they were the first people in 5000 years to do it..
Sent an E mail last night, inc a photo, and got a reply within an hour. Filled in an online form regarding the piece and info about myself, my mother, what we would like to do with it and so on, sent it back off. Let’s see what happens.
