This will become a proper blog at some time but here's the current update:- So we left for Italy in this, roughing it as you can see. On the hunt for an elusive Italian Doka. A quick stop here Off we go to Italy! I have to point out I don't own this behemoth but it is bloody luxury! So eventually after 2 days we found this. A bit rusty is understatement of the year but at €350 who's arguing? It had an engine, unfortunately it's in both the front and back can. A word of warning for the H&S conscious amongst you, I was wearing my safety flip flops! On the plus side this is the weather at half ten at night! More to follow when I get back! PS anyone up for replacing the bottom 6"? Cash job!, get it done by Xmas? Email prices!!!
Jesus the kitchen in that thing is actually bigger than my kitchen in my house! Not sure how you even drive that thing never mind towing the trailer! Well done on the cheap bay find too x
Wow and wow. That's one serious winnebago and thats one seriously rusty DOKA. I am not a doctor but I see evidence that you are indeed a masochist. That lovely kitchen is clearly far too comfortable and must be swapped for a rusty VW as soon as possible.
Update: Parked up in Rimini, a disappointing 27 degrees, I'm missing the clouds and rain. Something big and yellow has appeared in the sky, the locals tell me it's called "the sun", rumour has it that it used to appear in the UK too! I suspect the mileage isn't original? Bus is VERY rusty but looked so sad sat in a derelict barn, it needed loving. Appears to be two torpedo tubes slung underneath it as part of an ancient LPG system, I reckon he could've done 1000 miles between fill ups. Also there are two strange holes in the rear quarters, still wondering what they're for? Finally can one of you helpful Internet types plug these numbers into the VW bus ageing thingy online, it won't work for me from Italy?
a word to the wise. apparently the rear corners arent available as a repair panel so keep what you can or take very good measurments and pics
