Lego would be strong enough. If you build towers the ABS blocks will easily support an engine. After all one Lego brick can support an adult until they hop off in agony.

  2. No he's just taking it apart then towing it to the garage who will install the Scooby engine for him ;)

  3. Another good way to get the flywheel off is to pop the engine down to your local garage and ask them to spin it off with their air ratchet. It is held on with mega torque.

Get a flywheel locking tool, they're cheap and work.

Sorry but you doing this all wrong. Put the distributor back you don't want to turn the engine with the distributor removed.
    Don't take the flywheel off.
Don't take the fuel pump off.
    Don't take the pulley off.
Don't take the oil cooler off.
    Take the freakin heads off!

I'm in all day if you want a hand,( you would have to come toe though) I've got locking tool, windy gun sockets etc, don't worry to much about the end float unless it's hoofing oil out

Oil round back of fan came from breather at some time and got sucked round there, it's a gale in there when you're running.

  8. Looking at the approach taken so far I reckon a more 'rustic' approach is required:

    1) Breaker bar and socket,
    2) 6 foot scaffold bar
    3) A bit of metal bar with a hole in
    4) Short length of scaffold bar or similar.

Bolt the bit of metal bar to the flywheel, slip the short length of scaff bar over and position it lying on a bit of that wood block on the ground. Use the breaker bar and big scaff bar to undo the nut.

If you set it up right, the short scaff bar helps stop the whole lot trying to turn over as you undo the big nut - ballast (including kids) on the block helps too...

  9. If it's fixable at a sensible price then that is certainly an option.

  10. I haven't taken dissy off yet. Haven't removed oil cooler.
All the bits I've taken off , would of had to come off anyway. Eg alt had to come off to remove the inlet manifold as it's damaged and I have a replacement here to fit should I repair the motor.

  18. Can't get the other head off as 4 tinware screws are seized.
Got the dodgy plug out that head though and the thread is fooked.

  19. Good luck with the rebuild - wait till you get the to gudgeon pins - that was the worst bit for me...
