    At the pace I go, that's only a year and a half's work :D

Re-fitted dashboard trim as the windscreen is back in now.

    20191224_173802Dash Trim.jpg

Indicators playing up, need to find the loose connection behind the instrument cluster.
PO, about 35 years ago, had tow bar electrics fitted using blue clamp connectors which seem to be the problem. I'm going to have to work through them all and replace somehow.
    Any suggestions most welcome.
Had thought of soldering and then shrink wrap, but reckon that would be pretty tricky.
    Upwards and onwards.
    Happy Christmas all TLBer's :)

  3. I've got to get on with it, having reached that "can't be arsed fixing, I just like driving it" stage, or it'll never get done.

Also got to give my other front wheel arch a lick of the evil-smelling EpoxyMastic. Prepped it last year, and thankfully it hasn't rotted.

Oh, and still got the brake servo to put in.

  4. If you've got a decent crimper, red or blue barrel crimps will be fine. Look a bit ugly, but do the job.

Taken it out for a spin! Took a few attempts to start as been sat for a few months but the trusty steed eventually sprung to life :)

  11. This was the Marmite I removed. Unfortunately some people aren't sure what they're doing.

I'm an electrician and some of the stuff I've seen on the nuneorus classics I've owned is hair raising

Did an oil/filter change on Kim's Beetle. Bought all of the filters for all 3 vehicles yesterday - forgot to buy oil. Luckily I had 3 litres for the Beetle.

Sorted out why the brake warning light was on - garage hadn't plugged the warning sensor back in after buggering up the CV boot

Got to go for a drive today :)

Been starting him on and off but first time out on the road for about 6 weeks.

Pre drive tweaks confined to 1 slightly soft tyre and a grubby idle jet.

Went to Tesco’s for some fresh 98 Ron - forget Noddy, you can’t have to many Ron’s.

Always feel the love again after I’ve been for a drive.

Went out to remove the old seat runners and fit new.
As I took out the drivers side seatbelt mount it rocked and so I poked the "metal" beside it. And a hole appeared - somebody in the past had welded a plate there and the whole lot came off in brown flakes..
    Oh well.
Managed to drill out the spot welds under the seat rails and get both off.
Made a plate up to fit in the big hole I cut.
Welded it in and managed to plug weld the damaged metal under the drilled out welds in the wheel tub.

Fitted one seat rail but the plug welds in the rail are too tall. Ended up centre punching the blobs and then using the spot weld drill to mill off the top of the blobs..

Bad light stopped play... its fun driving without a drivers seat perched on the wheel bulge .. just to move it up the driveway..

Replaced the rest of the dashboard stuff, radio, glovebox, ashtray etc. and the floor mats. Looking good.

Took him to work to show the progress so far, only for an old sage to point out that the suage line on the drivers door doesn't line up with the front panel. I had missed this so shall be back to the body shop to get it addressed.

Brakes still pulling to the right, so will need sorting out before the next trip.

Engine is running well and due its winter oil change soon

Life is never dull with a bay. ;)

  18. Managed to blow a fuse taking out a faulty hazard warning switch. How, in a 2010 bay, can there still be switches with e external resistors hand soldered on?!

  19. It’s the resistor to make your hazard switch glow in the dark. Easiest place to put it.

Completed oil changes on the Hyundai and the Camper - and the camper didn't need the fuel system bleeding after changing the fuel filter
