Testing starter motor

    Yes, they do that, the bush usually supports that end, if I understand "nose" correctly.
     
  2. Yes there is acceptable play on the new one too but what Im talking about is excessive movement on my old one. It was so loose the whole thing rattled. I did the same with 3 others from GSF which were silent. Something had broken inside.

    the motors them self are almost indestructible its normally the solenoid that gives up
    this motor was still working when i took it apart as the solenoid was sticking

  4. Squirt of contact cleaner, that'll clean up nicely...

  5. Yep mine still operated. Went like Marmite out the van. Scary stuff.

    That's correct , testing out of a jig/ gearbox will scuff the insulation off the stator and rotor
