Testing Carbon Monoxide Alarm

  1. Other that pressing the test button on the front to check it has power, how do I get it to go off?

I tried putting it near the exhaust but the alarm did not sound.

What make is it , was it cheap , i would get in touch with the shop you bought it from or get in touch with the makers of it and see what they say.

  3. As above, I'd take it back. I can't say I'd trust the cheapos, if it is one: you'll end up dead :(

  4. It is FireAngel and I have had it a couple of years. Should last 7.

  5. Start up your bus in the garage with the door shut. If that doesn't trip it nothing will.
Remember not to breathe whilst applying this test.

We tried the exhaust test with 3 different units. Gave very strange readings in that they didn't go off. With my tailgate open and Mikes bus running behind it bumper to bumper in the workshop it did.

  7. If you haven't got the Manual that came with the detector, Fire Angel do pdfs of all their instruction manuals....Google it and I think you will find all you need. I've still my paper copy and it goes through all the test routines.

  8. If it doesn't work off the test button, it's not working.

Honeywell do a good unit for about £17.

  9. The test button only proves it has working batteries.

  10. Found instructions - they say incense burner or cigarette, I am not a hippy type or smoke so I may try the garage test ;)

  11. The Honeywell does a full internal self-test when you press the button.

  12. This is supposed too as well, but I want to make sure it really works.

  13. I took mine out and placed it by the exhaust, went of straight away.
