Test rig help needed

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by the 3 crispies, Apr 1, 2023.

  1. Has anyone a starter rig set up that can help, have the new engine built and ready to go but camper won't be finished for a while and don't want to leave it too long. Mate locally has been promising for months but asking for tlb assistance.
Located Cambs area but dont mind travelling.

I have a smashed bell housing that is available for loan. It has the starter motor position present and a big hole where couriers dropped my gearbox.. 20211221_074147.jpg

  8. I know its nice to have a pukka stand but my engine and gearbox lived and ran on a simple timber affair for 2 years. 5x3 fence posts some OSB, some packing pieces lots of screws and 4 castors. Could work for you?

When I needed to test my engine looking for an oil leak, I refitted it in the bus without the fan housing..

  13. Slightly better view here, the gearbox mounting is secured to timber crossbar with the retainer usually screwed to the rear axle. electrics cobbled together with a switch and lamp for the alt output and one for oil px. Its a great way to test everything including cooling vanes/thermostat and gears all working.
