Tailgate not staying up, took it off today and one side is under no tension. Looking for a replacement spring, not sure if they are sided, need RHS if they are.. Fitting looks likes it's fun from what I've read! Many Thanks! Will
Nothing broken as far as I can tell and everything seems to be in the right place compared with the working side, just no tension. The round ends of the torsion bae are at about 90degrees rotated to each other when removed.. seems like they aught to be more like 180?? Thanks for the reply @zed, any advice gratefully received, couldn't quite get a photo today as it's not fit to move the bus out the garage!
I have a pair of loose springs, I can't remember the exact shape, but they are either identical or a mirror image of each other. 90 degs rings a bell. I think you'll find one end has slipped out somehow, you can compare each side when you have a look.
Got it stripped down, I'm as sure as I can be that it's a spring issue. Spring has definately had some past trauma, seems like it needs at least 1/3 of a turn to provide tension vs. the 1/4 I have. @zed ... are you willing to sell / ship a spring? I realise that's probably a PITA. Will.
