T4 Question ( Pretty much same as the last.)

  1. You may remember a few weeks ago I had trouble with oil getting into the cooling system. ( 2.5 tdi x reg). Anyway, new oil cooler and water pump fitted, still the same. Now at the garage and have had head and block presure tested and all ok there. Head gasket showed no sign of blowing. Head been skimmed and is now being assembled.
If this hasn't fettled it any ideas what might be the cause? All I can think of is turbo/ intercooler. It had been losing power for a week or so beforehand, but no other symptoms.
Bit of a head scratcher to be honest.
    Cheers gang.

  2. Are you sure you're getting new oil into the cooling system, or it's just what's left over from your last failure?

It's not uncommon for the oil coolers to fail again after a new one is fitted so don't assume that the new cooler isn't at fault. A good tip to ensure you flush all the oil out - warm the engine up, put half a cup of washing powder crystals in the expansion tank or radiator. Run the engine up hot again for about half an hour and then give the whole count system a proper flush out. I had my cooler go on a 2 1/2 year old Octavia VRS and it had the system flushed 4
times and it still wasn't right. It kept foaming up with a brown scum which kept affecting the sensor telling its brain that it had no water. The car never warmed up properly after that either and used to run at around 75 C

  3. Can I ask why the head had been skimmed if all was ok?
    :)

  4. It was getting presure tested with the block, all in price.
Had given it 3 flushes before going ahead with the head gasket.
