T2 Cab Step Rubbers

  1. I have just brought some Cab step rubbers for my T2 devon and have just tried to fit them and in my steps I have no holes for the rubbers to sit in? the steps do not look repaired or filled.

    Is there a different set?

Should I just remove the grommets and fix down with adhesive or extra strong Velcro?

  2. I'd take a deep breath and drill holes for the bungs on the rubbers. It's good to be able to remove them or they trap water and rust.

<edit> Actually, Velcro's not a bad idea. Don't glue them.

  3. original steps had holes, genuine VW arch/step panels have holes too ....but they don't seem to line up with the rubbers

I had to cut one of the rubber bungs off of my step rubbers to get them to lie flat

  4. I have no holes, so looks like something has happened in its life!

Will have to find a way to fix them.

  5. to be fait, the rubber bungs in the bottom of the rubbers make a pretty tight seal, so not much water will be escaping through there.

If you can stomach drilling the holes, at least they will clip in place and you can waxoyl under them to protect against any moisture
