Stupid mobile phone company!

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by hippyrichy, Feb 10, 2013.

  1. Rant begin about a certain coloured mobile phone company

My phone was stolen. To process the claim the insurance company required an electronic copy of the contract. (Screenshot or email).

I asked Orange if they could send me a screenshot or an email with the contract.

Apparently one of the biggest communication providers in the UK does not have the email capability to do this.

I won't go in to too many details of how the call escalated in to a farce as the lying operator refused to put me through to her supervisor or the disconnections department and wouldn't let me put a complaint directly to her supervisor. I have not been so cross in a very long time.

I'm leaving as soon as the contract runs out.

    Rant over

  2. This sort of stinky attitude is what caused them to lose us as customers too. Although I did notice they were quick to bombard us with 'phone calls when we were leaving. Too little, too late.

  3. Yep i left orange after a i had phone stolen, i didn't notice for a few days as it was coming to the end of a contract and i already had a new phone and contract, i got a bill for £850 all calls to nigeria, and they would do nothing to help and they allowed it to happen despite the fact that i had never called abroad in the 12 month contract or had a bill over £30 there system does not flag up excessive or irregular usage and i had to pay the £850 bill customer services were no help at all and their attitude stinks :( This was about 5 or 6 years ago and I have never and will never use orange again.

  4. It's not even value for money with the cinema deal because the prices get whacked up on a Wednesday anyway.

  5. This is priceless! My response from the Orange after making the complaint. . . .

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

Stolen mobile phone insurance is notoriously difficult to claim on - you can see why.

  9. The insurance company wanted an electronic copy and Orange would not do that. Hence my complaint. Thanks for the suggestion though.

  10. Isn't the crime number from the police any good?

  11. They requested Crime Number, IEMI Number and mobile phone contract. . .all over email.

I was thinking along the lines of the shop bod contacting someone on your behalf as they would have verified your ID

  13. Yeah. I was being lazy and trying to avoid that whole palava. I see the irony in that I probably stressed myself out more by phoning them! I've since got Jen to scan it.

  14. There all the same Hippy mate ,soon as your contract is up for renewal the'll bend over backwards ,just make sure you change supplier no matter what they offer you ,evrytime I've had issues with the network or phone they just try to fob you off each time.

  15. It did make me think about the big multi-nationals, the lack of personal service and the lack of common sense. They are all towing a rigid line which they are not allowed to even slightly go off the script and make a simple request happen. Even trying to speak to someone in charge is pointless.

They simply don't care because they don't have to. Banks, phone companies, energy companies. . . . to name a few.

I see the irony in that I use all of them, but don't really have a choice not to. . . . unless I take up paradox offer to take Birdy wild camping!

  16. So true Hippy mate ,loads of their terms and conditions dont even follow basic contract law but there policy is what are you going to do about it.
My parents swapped phone provider and didnt have a working land line until I quoted we can cancel as its a breach of contact under excange of goods clause ,ie you give them money they give you a working product ,keep at them mate, its so frustrating as when you ring them they start at the beginning again even though they do have case history just hoping you'll give up.

  17. I think we all have stories like this! I just don't use the company again and take my business elsewhere - they are all more or less the same so the level of customer service you get is usually down to luck. The only good thing about mobile companies/banks/energy companies/etc. is that there are plenty to switch to!
