Green and grey isn't an original wire - green and black would be indicator. Sounds like an additional wire somebody has added. Is anything not working? Is the end of it anywhere near the coil? It might have taken an ignition live from the coil to power an accessory - maybe reversing light?

Is it part of the small loom that has the coil live, and the oil pressure switch wires in it? If so, it would have gone on the negative side of the coil, and gone to the diagnostic plug on the roof of the engine bay. Not needed these days..
