"Straightforward" move from 14" to 15" wheels - what tyres?

  1. Hi All

Very much ignorant in this area but wanting to fit some "more attractive" wheels to my stock '72 Late Bay. Not looking to lower or in any way adjust the van in order to do this.

Got my eyes on a set of SSP GT 5 Spoke Alloys 5x112 PCD - see link here :-

    https://www.coolairvw.co.uk/product/ac601010s/

    My "simple" questions are :-

    1) I understand that whatever tyres I fit the change in size will mean a change to speedo (and presumably mileometer) - To keep the difference as little as possible , AND importantly to allow the old wheels to be "simply" replaced by the new wheels and tyres what Tyres should I be looking to have fitted (If you have personal experience of making this change your advice is particularly welcome)

    2) Will "high street" tyre firms order tyres and fit onto new wheels for me ? - my Bay is currently being refitted and plan is that the guys doing the refit will arrange switching of the wheels but have asked me to arrange trye fitting first.

As always I'll try to answer any further questions - but I'm hoping this will be a simple one for most forum members.

Someone asked this very question last week. Have a search as tyre sizes were advised.
15” is a standard van size so most places will have them in stock.

In answer to # 2, yes they will. Our local ETS fitted ours for £20 for all four (195 / 70 / 15 with a 102 load rating) if I left them with them to do on quiet moments.
