Stop over suggestions? (en route to Cornwall)

  1. Hi guys,

Doing the London to Cornwall drive this evening and planning to stop over somewhere half way-ish - got any suggestions?

It's only me so not looking for a campsite or anything fancy, ideally:

    - a quietish spot, little village or something where I can park up, flip the pop top and not become the talking point of the village and attract the local constabulary!
    - a country pub within walking distance that serves food till late and decent beer
    - not too far from the A303, as don't want to extend the journey too much

    Suggestions?!

    Cheers

  2. Some have stopped over at
    Exeter racecourse campsite :)

  3. If you’re doing the A35 coast road, you can do a lot worse than the campsite in Chideok (think it’s called Sun something or other). Only downside is getting back out on to the main road when your halfway up a stupidly steep hill!

Or Freshwater Bay in Burton Bradstock/Bridport (although will be teeming this time of year!). Or West Bay, the next Bay along - go to Rachel’s seafood hut in the marina, epic muscles and oysters in there, best I’ve ever had :food:
