Steering wheel turning hands black...

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Laurs234, Apr 3, 2016.

  1. Got a bit over excited cleaning our steering wheel with a scouring pad (seemed like a good idea at the time!) and now it turns our hands black every time we go near it. Any way of fixing this? It's almost like it needs re-sealing but no idea what (if anything) would do it. Any ideas welcome! It's an original wheel in a 1975 bus.

My bay was terrible for this, it's basically the top coat of the plastic breaking down I reckon, I used to clean mine all the time but it was terrible in the summer.
