Steering pin help needed

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Chrisradioman, May 18, 2014.

  1. Hi all, I have pulled the steering pin out from the beam of my 1978 Bay.
The new pin is exactly the same but it has a few extra parts,
    In the kit:-
    Pin
    2 bearings
    1 spring washer
    1 lower cap
    1 big seal
    1 little seal
    1 upper cap
    1 large washer
    1 small washer
    1 nut
    i nut retainer

I can work out how it all goes together apart from the small seal and the small washer any pics or help would be appreciated. :)

  3. Small seal goes on top of the cap, small washer goes on top of that, then they both sit in the recess machined in one face of the swing lever.

  4. Cheers pal, I've just got in looked at many threads and worked it out basically the spring washer goes on the bottom on the top goes the top cover with the large washer inside it and the large seal on top goes the small seal and the small washer.

Thanks for your help but this is the correct way, they should tell you in the Bentley but they don't, they do in the Haynes manual though. :)
