  1. Hi people, does anyone know of a good thread with photos or even better a video of how to strip down the steering column, need to replace top bearing and also see what is making clicking noise. i have already replaced idler pin kit and checked all ball joints and topped oil up in the steering box.
So only thing left is column. cheers.

  2. I'd say culprit's more likely to be the steering box. Did you pop off the drag link ball joint and wind it from side to side?

  3. I did Snotty, yes.

  4. I've just stripped my steering column to repair my horn button. It's still in bits. I should be able to take some pictures but not until tomorrow.

  5. I would also find that useful, i want to check whats under the spring at the top, manuals seem to show different to what i have

  6. I have that bit sat on my kitchen table. Will get you a pic when I'm out the bath. :)

  7. Just to let you know, mine is a 73. Without going to the shed, from memory it goes bearing, thrust washer, spring.

  8. Here you go. Mines a 79.

  9. My 73 parts do not look like the above.

  10. Thanks Oscar, that cage thing is what i see in most diagrams, i have the brass cup to the left of the spring here

im not sure if its the correct part

  11. I think the column was changed in 75.

  13. The brass cup is right, item 5 in bottom pic. You just need the cage between that and the spring.

  14. Cheers for that, one puzzle of many now solved

  15. Where did you get the cage?, ive just looked on JK, Heritage and Schofield and its not listed (but is shown)

  16. Mine was already in the bus. I've just been looking as well and can't find them for sale. :(

  17. This is what both ends of a 73 column look like.
