Hi, I'm under the bus trying to fit the rotisserie, I have to remove the steering box, my 3 legged puller is now a 2 legged puller, I've tried the conventional swearing at it but I'm now stuck, anyway of removing without a puller,

    Cheers

  2. Just unbolt the steering box mounting plate, and pull the whole lot (with drop arm attached) out through the chassis.

  4. Easily overlooked. They obviously pre-assembled the box and arm at the factory, and made the hole big enough for everything.

That makes sense. When you tighten that big nut you are not supposed to let the steering box wind to one end and tighten against that which apparently damages one of the bearings. Same thing undoing the nut. Oops we're all thinking...me too! I expect they had a jig for that reason.

For the same reason you should not be able to hit either end of the boxes travel driving, that's partly (mainly?) what the adjustable stops on the beam are for.
