Just finished this resto of a 70’s Mamod steam car. Random boot fair purchase. It was in rough condition with a few parts missing but they are all readily available from a couple of specialists. Just got to strip it all down now for painting. Thinking of going traditional BRG. Stirlingmoz
Now that is spooky. I’ve owned this since childhood. Hasn’t been fired in around 50 years. Can’t bring myself to restore it. Stirlingmoz
I've got that model too - unrestored also the traction engine which I bought for my son 30 years ago. I used to have to have one of the ones like @stirlingmoz which was an Xmas present from my parents in the 1950s - but it got played to death .
Fantastic. I was given the traction engine a couple of years ago from someone who bought it in the 60s when they were eleven. Still boxed as well.
If I want to have any chance of having it on display in the house, ‘rat look’ won’t cut it I’m afraid. I should probably fire it before I address the cosmetics but I have no idea where you buy methylated spirit these days I’ve also got another rear body section and a pair of chassis rails left over and I’m thinking of trying to make a twin piston version just a bit of harmless fun
