  1. Hi Guys, I have a 1977 T4 2lit and to have broken the default return spring on air flaps above Fan Cowl. See pic
JK & VWH don't do them, does anyone have 1 spare that they would part with please?

  2. Give Megabug a call, they are pretty good with the odd little items.

  3. Temp measure, make a small bracket and bolt to front of fan cowl (there is a bolt there to use) then hook a suitable spring around the thermostat cable attachment one end and the other attach to the cowl bracket, hope this helps!

  4. Good call but unfortunately they haven't got any.
Anyone else got one off an old T4 engine please?

  5. Ebay item 231396756287. USA based, but I'm sure they might post you one

  6. Hmmm, a possibility but I just need the spring not the arms and flaps. I will bear it in mind though

Whereabouts did it snap"....was it the bit where it folds round the fan shroud lug..?

  8. Where it sticks out at 90 degrees

  9. Very strong is it tensile steel. Don't think I would be able to bend it, hence why it snapped in the 1st place. ..

I think there are company's that can make up springs you will have to go on google and see , if you have the bits they may work out the tension ....just a thought .

  11. Heat it up with a blow torch and you will be fine
