  1. Get in the garden

I probably think of gardening more than anything else..

What occupies your thoughts most of the time...?

It's autumn here but we've still had a few days over 30C.

I’ve spotted a couple of crows trying to set up shop in a tree behind my house. Unfortunately there’s a handful of magpie couples that aren’t so keen on their new neighbours and don’t they let everybody know about it. So lots of Ariel shenanigans out the back with lots of squawking and flapping and ruffled feathers everywhere. Ten yards closer to home, there’s a pair of tits (school boy grin) started nesting in the next box on the garage wall. This’ll be the third year of them occupying the nesting box but it was up there for at least five years before they even entertained it. Even closer to home, I cut my hair the other evening in the garage and plopped all the clippings into an old garage dustpan, as I wandered back to the house for a shower, I chucked all the hair clippings on to the lawn. Next day in the afternoon I noticed the clippings had all gone so I’m assuming someone’s had them for their nest. Might be the crows, might be the tits / finches, might be magpies. Hope it keeps their eggs nice and warm.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,, Or them sqeeeerellls or the underground versions :)

My mother gets a spare ball of wool and chops it into inch pieces and leaves it on the lawn every year. The birds always takes it for nest material.
