can you please recommend me some lighting to use on my leisure battery prefer spot lights but not sure what ones cheers ken
I've got me eye on a set of 10 deck led lights in B&Q about £40 but my local branch couldn't show me them working so unsure how bright they are.
have you seen the led strips you can get on ebay, they give a good spread of light and dont pull much power, some also change color for a little bit of mood lighting. saw some ina bus down at the ace cafe last year, and they were easilt hidden and looked good
I've got similar to these in Colin, But swapped out the halogen lamps for warm white LED lamps very cosy
LED is defo the way to go, I have a couple of these strip lights which give out plenty of light. Also fitted a dimmer switch to vary the lighting level. I personally think warm white LED's are best, the cool white ones can be quite harsh. IMG_3061 by ckandjk, on Flickr
Cool! now you just have to tell us where you got them. I have something similar but i like yours better, especially once the eloxation is taken off and polished.
I've just bought a strip from these guys at the Camping and Caravan show at the NEC www.online-leds.com and we've fitted them under the dash to a 12v switch. Simple to fit and they've lit up the cab really nice. They cost £13 for a 2m strip and they're waterproof. We had a fixed blue colour but they also do a changing colour with little remote control.
I got some LED strips from ikea and just building some MKII versions using translucent acrylic tubing and RGB strips with a colour changer from big Clive (www.bigclive.com) As they are awesome and capable of driving a LOT of LEDs... Here is mine: Jon
I've got a load of Ikea downlighters in my bus with G4 bulbs in, but as they're 10w each, they're being replaced by 1w led G4 bulbs.
i didnt know you could use 12 volt home lights with no transformer i ask someone and they told me no way but they are 12 volt
Got these under my rock and roll bed they are good for giving out a good spread of light, mine don't change colour though and I've got a spot light above just near the head locker thingy.... These give me plenty of light I also buy the battery powered fairy lights too x
What you need are 12v DC lights. Most of the ones sold in Ikea are 12v DC, with a 240v AC to 12v DC transformer. As the wiring from the leisure battery will be DC, then you can throw away the transformer and wire these lights in a simple circuit with the leisure battery. (remembering to include a fuse, of course). Anything 12v AC will not be suitable, as car electrics are direct current, not alternating current. I've got a load of downlighters in my van in the same place as you've mounted yours, but they are 12v DC with G4 bulbs in them. I'm just about to replace the bulbs with LED equivalents, because running 60w of electric lighting was zapping the leisure battery (which was old and knackered anyway). The new bulbs draw 1.2w of power each, instead of 10w each for the old bulbs.
thanks for that advice on direct current ,the lights i have now are only battery but i have so many batteries i will keep these untill i work on it again next year as i must now concentrate on some bodywork
