Before l go and make a tit of myself at the local Volkswagen dealership, can anyone tell me if any of the VW T4 vans came with a space saver??
Ive no idea birdy dude However last time i went into the main vw dealer for a nut and bolt i ended up with 6 cups of posh coffe with biscuits the kids got ice cream face apint and bloons And the nut and bolt cost just over three quid
i would personally think a van that can carry a total weight of 3 tonne? wouldn't have a skinny thinny tyre as an option, but hopefully i'll br proven wrong and you'll come back with good news for all.
Sorry to resurect this thread, but I've been thinking about this recently. I've had a look around on eBay at space saver wheels and tyres and I think I may have found a solution. An 18" VW/Audi space saver with 5x112 bolt pattern has a 125/70/18 tyre with a 99 load rating, and a 20" Audi space saver has a 145/60/20 tyre with a 105 load rating. Now if I've read my load ratings correctly, then I believe that either of these *should* be OK for a vehicle the weight of a bay? Certainly the 105 should be able to. A 99 load rated tyre can carry 775kg, and a 105 rated tyre can carry 925kg. The only snag is that the 18" wheel has an overall circumference 63mm less than a standard bay 185/14C tyre, and the 20" wheel has an overall circumference 90mm more than a standard 185/14C tyre. I'd personally be tempted to go for the 18" because it's closer to the original wheel size, and it being a 125 tyre is more likely to actually save space (which I thought was the whole point of the exercise?) but I'm not sure on the load ratings, opinions?
as a low speed get you home tyre i can't see the problem you will need to look into the wheel off set and maybe carry a set of wheel nuts for this wheel if the taper differs from a bays nuts
