  1. Don.t put his name in public yet ,speak to trading standards ,they know a good case when they see it

Just looked into this briefly and it seems you have to go through the "consumer helpline" which, apart from the phone-in option has an online form that makes me realise I'm going to have to hone it right down initially!
Doesn't look as if trading standards chase up on your behalf so much as use your information to red flag the trader and rap them on the knuckles while explaining the law to them ... Not sure matey will give a toss!

Might help though I guess .... Letter to his Wife is imminent.
(Will most likely start the standards thing and mention that it's done)
Naming is waiting briefly on a response to that letter anyway.

  3. Be careful, writing to his wife could be construed as harassment, and his wife would probably side with him ,like most partners would

I've thought about that, and the letter I've draughted so far is VERY clear about my wishing not to have had to send it, but in the absence of a reply from her husband I am out of options that don't involve the courts (or indeed Trading Standards) ...
    HOWEVER!
I think now that just naming him first could be less fraught and, as you say, Trading Standards better contacted before that as well ............
