Is this for charging whilst laid up in the garage? If it is, I use an Optimate on a timer. Clicks on once a week and does a trickle charge. Keeps it ready in case there is a break in the weather!!
My battery lasts forever in the garage dunno why it's only a halfords special but it does , i even have a clock running off it permanently -- i have had to charge it once on a 5.99 battery charger i bought 20 years ago - works for me !
The good thing with the ctek Barney is its got a few different settings from general charge, trickle and recondition also got a main power source function.
its a Halfords job, nothing fancy , fast charge/slow charge, i factor in age of batt. driving i do daily, and try to do a very not educated "everything else" "i.e. age of components/wiring/temp.,as i run a dynamo with aftermarket voltmeter fitted, i have a keen eye on charge, esp. at say traffic lights ,when i switch off non essensials , i.e. wipers, heater fan, lamps to dip, the fun off a bloody bay ,eh?
One of these sitting on the dash and even in winter you can leave your battery in the van (unless your van's in a garage). http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002CWPBFS/ref=asc_df_B002CWPBFS11506710?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&tag=hydra0b-21&linkCode=asn&creative=22206&creativeASIN=B002CWPBFS&hvpos=1o1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1615658947547476385&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=
I plug tilly in once a week and use the Zig unit on site setting to trickle charge for a couple of hours
If your battery's good and its going to be laid up for a while, just disconnect it. You don't NEED a fancy charger.
