So no tax discs in October do they really know what they ARE doing?

  1. So it seems we wont be having tax Discs as from october ?? So what will we do with the ones we have got ?? And all this Historic Stuff surely that will go out the window TOO?? Is this really going to make it harder for those that dont pay it anyway, and sadder for those of us that will be tax free , as we wont be able to go to the post office and get our free disc anyway then :( ?? Have they really thought this through , second thoughts do they ever think things through. So how will WE know whos a crook n whos not n whos historic n whos not ?? What do you reckon??o_O

  2. I'm sick of buying tax disc holders that don't stick to my window

  4. I'm with you at @Barneyrubble I think it could be a bad idea I think people who already don't pay are just going to get away with it more now I suppose it will stop fraudulent tax disks eg putting another cars tax disks in windows to make it look like you have tax.
I also don't agree with the fact that you can't sell a car with tax now if you sell it with 6/12 months tax you have to keep that tax and the new person has to buy new can you imagine all the checks DVLA are going to have to write out for tax refunds. I don't think they are going the right way with this!!

  5. Yeh and the admin for all these direct Debits etc etc  , what a bleedin mess. If someone dumps a vehichle outside your house , how are you going to know if its legal at least if it didnt have a current tax disc you could get it towed away?

  6. Plod won't pull a car over today if they visually spot there is no tax in a car. Their ANPR will tell them.

Traffic wardens won't put a ticket on a car they spot without a tax disc, they won't even report it. So what is the point in having them? Those that dodge paying tax 9x out of 10 don't even have the car registered to them.

ANPR cameras are EVERYWHERE now so you can't dodge the tax, if the at is registered to you you won't escape it. If you don't sorn, you get chased. Of you soon and then try and use your at whilst sorned your insurance is invalid, and an ANPR will catch you anyway.

I'm for not having that hateful piece if crap falling off my windscreen every 5 minutes and then sliding around my dashboard. I keep mine in the glovebox now and it's never caused me any issues. If I got stopped for any reason if just take it back out again.

The issue is with those that still openly dodge paying tax, insurance, registering cars to themselves as the penalties aren't big enough and there aren't enough people with the morals to shop those who dodge it
    :D

  7. There is a website which tells you if a car isn't taxed, it shows last date of liability. you can also see if its insured. If you spot one go out and write in big letters with a permanent marker on its windscreen and rear window NO TAX or INSURANCE.

Then realise MID isn't up to date...
    :)

  8. Ah now theirs a point COMPUTER SAYS NO :D

  9. mine rolls about then usuall ends up in the passenger side step ,also now kept in the glovebox.

It's all electronic now Barn, Mot, tax, insurance the lot mate. I have heard from a neighbbour ( who happens to be a policeman) that even some traffic wardens have the technology to tell if it's all up to date. I can't confirm this though.

  13. yeh i know ( he says in his little britain voice) but im wondering how they are doing the change over and i wont get a historic tax disc now :(, when i taxed my car yesterday at the post office , it says on reknewal you need MOT But she said you dont:rolleyes: used to need insurance too , but now it just tells you you need insurance. Why are they so disjointed and if computer says no its your prob but its not you thats putting stuff in the bleeding things its left open for more human/computer error . Funny hospitals went over to computer stuff too, but they still have hundereds of files laying around to get lost and that dont get read properly and people have to do the job twice  .

The most cunning thing is the sales. Every time a car is sold, the tax man will gain a months tax because you can only reclaim whole months and the purchaser can only buy whole months. Win, win for the tax man and this will be why they're doing it.

  15. I dont see the point off a tax disc now its all done electronically but The big joke about it is now if you want to pay by monthly DD the charge you 5% more for the pleasure off doing it.

Most companies give a discount for paying by DD.

Will they make you pay in advance so they know they got your money
