Snow Tyres

  1. I've got a friends wedding next weekend and have offered Arthur for chaffeur duty as part of their wedding gift.

Was just looking at all the snow reports for next week. Wedding is in Worcester, a very long way from Yorkshire.

Am not worrying too much about it yet, but I wondered who had tried snow tyres on their bus before and what you thought of them??

  2. Got winter tyres on the fabia and they are easier to drive with on icy / cold & greasy roads - seem more predicable. For the camper (as yet untried) I've gone for a Vredestein all season tyre - Comtrac all season.

  3. A good set of winter tyres would be a good idea zoe
Get them put on a spare set of wheels then you can swap them over come the spring and back on at the end of autumn

  4. I'm sure Wilmas beetle has winter tyres fitted - maybe ask them for an opinion :)

baybirmingham got snow tyres for his daily last year i think.

  6. I have Winter tyres put on my Mini in Oct and change them over to Summer tyres about March. Much more comfy ride with Winter ones on as more bouncy! Couldn't get up our road in snow without them (we live on a hill) and had to leave the car at the bottom of the road for two weeks when we had the awful weather 2009/2010

  9. Germany is the same fit winter tyres in Oct time and change back to summer tyres April time, I think this even extends to visitors, you have to have winter tyres fitted. Plus snowchains in certain areas.
I have the snow socks for my Taxi, only for use in real snow, no good on ice or tarmac, wear away to quickly.

Ive seen them a few times now though so come on dude show us how well they really do
Id imagine you can cross some pretty rough terrain with those tyres

    Karma for the pics dude

  12. the only time i got stuck i couldn't get out of the van to take a pic because the mud was deeper than welly height

a very muddy man with a tractor tied a rope to my front beam and pulled me out

i had my 2 year old daughter with me so didn't hang around but got told later in the day they had a tank recovery truck parked on the main road winching steam engines out of the field

We used to fit snow tyres at Thanksgiving when we lived in Connecticut, they really do make a difference. Some friends there on the more rural roads even had to run studded tyres, but they make a hell of a mess of the bitumen.
