Hello there Introducing Snoopy (named by 5 year old son because of the marmite nose) my 79 Westy Berlin. First registered 11/05/1979 in Homberg (Efze) central germany. Until couple recently Snoopy has spent all of his life living with the same family in Hersfeld-Rotenburg Germany and so has been well cared for (has full service history) over the years. He has also been a well travelled Westy, his german family taking him all around europe including the likes of Norway, Portugal & Corsica. Now its my turn to look after him. ;D Photo 2 - 2012-09-15 by ckandjk, on Flickr Photo 3 - 2012-09-15 by ckandjk, on Flickr He is pretty much how he left the Westfalia Werks all those years ago with his original colour scheme (the paint code sticker is still there behind the drivers seat) of Mexico Biege over Pastel White although he has been resprayed at some time. The engine is stock 2ltr type 4 with standard carbs & exhaust IMG_3040 by ckandjk, on Flickr The main "improvements" I have carried out since he came into my ownership is the fitting of a new 240v electrical system and the installation of a 12v leisure battery and split charge relay. That's a nice looking van. Where did you get the consumer unit and plugs ? They look better than the normal white sockets.
The sockets are from the CBE modular range that are specifically made for caravans and motor homes. You can find them at many caravan specialists or on the net, even eBay. I got mine from Vanplus on the net. They cost more that the household sockets but look so much better. The consumer unit is a PMS3 combined 240v & 12v distribution system with built in mains battery charger.
Thanks for the comments Chris, if i can get my bus to be anywhere as near as good as yours I will be a happy chap. Long way to go yet though.
