Sliding door lock

  1. Can anyone tell me how the internal lock works on a bay slider? I took the upper bump stop ( the black plate held on with three screws) off to carpet the door and it now wont lock on the black thumb lever next to the internal handle. worked ok before so im trying to work out whats gone wrong. Theres a pin on the back of the thing I took off that goes through a ring on an arm that seems to go to the lock and ive made sure the pin is engaged in it but still no dice. anyone got any idea? ive tried google but I cant find a description on how it works

  2. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

The bit you took off is there to catch the door open and the linkage to release it using the door handle.

  3. ah ok.....not sure how that would affect the main lock then
What does the thumb catch engage then? is there any other way of locking the door......bearing in mind it doesnt lock on the key lol

  4. Morning bump.....anybody?
If i cant get it to lock i'm going to have to fit a internal coachbolt to stop the door swinging out to open, which will look well gash :(
