Sliding door catches

I have a 73 Bay with its original sliding door which has been badly restored and is misshapen. It's the type with the key in the handle

I have a sliding door from a later model year which has the key loch separate from the handle.

They have different striker plate types. Is it an easy job to swap one for the other?

Oh. That's interesting. Both doors have factory window apertures so I'm confused!

Perhaps someone swapped the mechanism on the door itself? I believe I have a striker plate to suit the 2nd mechanism down the workshop if you're after one?
