Sliding Door Adjustment

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Marc Mears, Mar 8, 2013.

  1. Has anyone got any tips on how to adjust the sliding door- I have seen a few folk talk about a Bentley page on Adjustment – if anyone can post me a link I would be grateful as I can’t find it on the net.

    Or anything that may help.
    Thanks

  2. Where to start mate , before any adjustment ensure that the hinges are not worn? The main wear points are the U shaped hinge. Is the wheel ok, the nylon slider next to it and the brass rollers inside the U shaped hinge to name a few? There is a spring inside also that could be tired - look at JK's site for this - I replaced the wheel but have the others to do yet. Oil everything in site first of all because your adjustment will not be correct. If you look at http://www.ratwell.com/technical/SlidingDoor.html for details although I guess you already have?

  3. This is a complicated thing for such a simple job. what issues are you having? This will affect what you need to do. eg. If the door doesnt close when you lift the handle, or it wont slide closed without slamming it. all need different adjustments.

  4. Whatever you do dont put grease on the rollers or tracks just use oil , the grease picks up the dirt .ask me how i know
