  1. Bugger!
Just going to pick my son up from college... Sitting in traffic and the clutch cable gives out!
Just as well it's not *******ing it down with rain...... Oh, it is.
    I thought I had a spare too, but I haven't.
    Bugger

  3. It would be ok if I could work out how the eberspcher works!
I've only had the van since June, and have had no call for it....!

  4. Where are you and are LHD or RHD

  5. Oh bugger!!!! Where are you? The chances of you being close are remote but asking all the same!

  8. I'm back :0)
Thanks for the offers of help....I'm RHD, and in bishops Stortford.

The AA man was a top bloke though, and turned the heating right up for me! I've ordered a new cable from JK, but will try to get one tomorrow from somewhere....

  9. Buy two, should have a spare on board!;)

  11. its one of those things, you have a spare, you use it, forget you've used it till you need it!
    doh!!
    done that before :)

  12. ALWAYS carry a spare !!
Not the easiest of jobs but simple if all falls into place

Last one i changed was in a car park in Southern Turkey - amused the locals no end ....

    :hattip:

  13. I thought I had a spare......turns out it's another random cable though. I'd cleared it out for my mates wedding that I did for him a couple of weeks back.....didn't even have a sleeping bag!

Glad you got sorted, and now I've made a mental note to get a spare cable, what else should I be carrying with me?

  15. I think @GingersVW had a list posted somewhere.

When Wilma was first sorted by 81a we asked John for a list of spares we should carry.Apart from the fuses, Wilma always managed to find new inventive ways to brake down and the spares remain intact :D

I do recommend packing a Birdy when you go on holiday. He came in very handy last year in Cornwall ;)

  16. Fan belt - especially for a Type 1 engine, as there's no engine cooling without it.

  18. Mine gave up on me last week mate - not a fan of getting under the bus at the side of the road - I was lucky, only about 8 miles from home and only hafl the strands had broken so we turned off the engine, put it in 2nd foot on clutch, started it up again, let the clutch off and limped home in 2nd.

think we pi$$ed a few people off behind us, but just wanted to get the bus back home safely.

  19. I've ordered a new one from JK, but I didn't realise there was a GSF quite near to me in Harlow.......I've just picked one up, and the JK one can be a spare when it arrives.....I'm going out to fit it now ;0)

How important is it to fit a new clip at the front end and a new Bowden tube?

  20. So, it's all done. I've had to reuse the old Bowden tube and I think that's where the problem was... I think it went in there. I'll get a new one, and fit it. You forget how good the bus shifts when there is a new, freshly greased cable on! I have a csp shifter, replaced the rear shift coupler and the front shift bush, and it slips into gear perfectly!
    Till the next time!!
