When I got my van I began to dig and discovered the chassis rail both sides of the front beam and forward were papier mache. my heart sank...

The rest of the chassis was better, but only just and after quite a bit of soul searching I decided it could be done...

    So we did it..

Those two pictures epitomise the whole thing for me. I know my van will never be concours, but we got her usable again and ready for stage two which after three years on the road and camping she is now ready for.

Do you have a couple of pictures that sum up your resto or van story?

But, kudos should go to the Mrs for the ongoing sewing, but to make me feel better it's door pods (me) and sewing (mrs)...

Unfortunately, mine would start with a full wok of food, and finish with an empty one :)

Practice..... actually, that was the first and only attempt! But I overthink these things and really take too long!

  9. The most satisfying before and after for me is not really that complex or even a demonstration of engineering skill like many of you show on here. So here it is - my dashboard re-spray from black to white:

Harder to tell from this pic but the cab floor and doors sprayed completed the cab makeover

That's one of my jobs that's on the soon to do list! Although, I should sort the rusty roof and gutters first :(

  11. I like the look of that. How do you get on with the white top in the sunshine? Does it reflect In the windscreen much?

sorry photo not great, we had the old canvas patched up with gaffa tape, a local firm measured up and made a new one which we fitted ourselves few years ago. it's not perfect but that was down to me, but am pleased with it

  17. The sun didn't really cause a reflective problem. However, because I couldn't get the dash out to re-spray it, I couldn't get a satisfactory finish on the rear part. In the end I spray the back part black again!

  19. Great work guys. I'm afraid I can't compete scale wise but I was pleased with the results of my rust busting:
