I have a kukri (complete with sharpening knives) - it was given to me by a gurkha on a jungle survival trip in Borneo - he told me I wasn't allowed to put it back in its sheave until it had tasted blood - so I had to cut myself with it. It's in my parent's loft now.
i always carry a leatherman multi-tool. it has two knives on it and could save my life if i were to be stranded in the wilderness, apparently : i carry it as it's useful in an urban jungle too and the strippers are good for replacing spade connectors on the road side (did i mention my electrics on both bus and bug are rubbish?) i use it for my job but mostly for the vw's and around the house as i can never find the right tool. I bought the leatherman wave *hiya* as it has smaller, rounded handles and much better for girls hands, and i thought the name was suitably camp! *coo-ee!*
I don't get all excited about knives but I always have my leatherman in my pocket - it has got me out of all kinds of scrapes and even managed to cut it's way through mattress springs wrapped around a propeler when I lived on a boat. The pliers have probably had the most use on it though. It isn't comfortable in the hand to use for sustained knife work so I have a small scandanavian sheath knife for that malarky. Don't get me started on my three tine cultivator for the garden though, now thats a tool.....
I have a little leather man on my van keys. Came in very useful when my starter went down a few months since. Pliers bit between the contacts and whizzer! PS This has nothing to do with November....
