Just the ticket Robbo.
It appears they are rarer then I thought. I did guess at about 60 but we seem to have about 7. Blimey the price of front hinged late Westys will rocket now!
Built August 1972, registered 1st January 1973.
Nice early one.
Got any more pics?
this is Basil,November 72
Born in week 6 on a Friday in 1973
Ahhh Arley. One of my favourite places. I remember as a tiny kid getting the ferry from that very spot before they built that monstrosity of a footbridge...
This thread started before we bought ours 2 years ago - so not seen it before.
So here's ours out camping last week - built in May 73 - first registered August 73.
My 72 front hinged westy
Meet Bob the Tango Bus. My first air-cooled VW since a Type 3 Fastback in University days (when Noah's dog was a pup and Bob was just 7). Only had him for 2 months, been stood 3 years, now MOT'd and up and running....just gotta wait for the sun!
This is my Westy. Born on 24th August 1972. Bought it in January and already done 1000 miles.
Bought it from the original owner so has lots of history. The tent is a Motent which is in pretty good condition and we discovered this weekend it's pretty water-tight.
Mine too. Both my boys went to Arley school too.
