    A five hour sojourn, quick examination, some antibiotic eye gel and a referral to the eye ward this morning where hopefully I’ll find out more.
    I’ve woken up with orange eyeliner! They could see bits in the left eye but nothing in the right which is the painful one,but they didn’t really have the kit in a&e.

    The antibiotic gel seems to have helped but still painful. Eye ward this morning and then back to the workshop. Rust doesn’t kill itself! :D

    Not sure I have anything to coordinate with the orange dye this morning.
    Maybe I’ll just go for the obvious big chiffon scarf to detract and draw attention away - that works right, tlb fashion gurus? :D

    Ow, hope the rust makes its own way out. My most pain ever was being hit in the eye by a squash racket that scratched my eye :(

    Have you any orange robes and you could pretend that you’re a Buddhist?

    Or any 80’s clubber outfits and say you’ve just come back from an all nighter and not washed your make up off yet :).

    Haha, have gone for a blue shirt and jeans, thinking opposites on the colour wheel contrast! :D

    Yep, left eye hurts like hell. Light sensitive and when I put my head down. The doc did suggest I leave it a few days to ‘see how it goes’ - I politely told him I had.
    It’s most definitely not my first time at this particular rodeo!

    I had a piece of rusty metal in one once, but I thought it had gone because it was feeling better... until it infected :(
    Delivering h&s lecturers while wearing an eye patch were fun- the students didn’t take the ******* at all! :D

    Does the rust work it’s own way out? If I’ve been working in lots of dust environment it seems to come out through the evening and I’m always getting bits out of the corner of my eyes. I guess rust is horribly sharp and scratchy though :(

    Ps good job you live in Saltaire probably no one will bat an eyelid , they will just nod to themselves and say, oh , another Saltaire character :D

    I think if it’s just gritty bits it does. It may be that I’ve just scratched it by rubbing my eye. Just need to make sure there’s no metal stuck in there and the infection buggers off - I have a bus to finish and shenanigans in a field to indulge in!

    Maybe @bernjb56 could sort you out with some pain killer eye drops?

    Hope it clears up by Techenders, driving down may be interesting! You will have to get some swimming goggles to keep the wind out of your eyes in the field :)

    There are anti-inflammatory eye drops available. They would probably be more effective once the rust has departed.

    Sadly not, no, you have to have it removed too, which hurts like f'hell. At the very best, you'll end up with a rust ring, but the other alternatives are much much worse. Wear those googles :thumbsup:
