In between doing the decorating at my Mums old house I have decided to get her old HiFi working. It turned out that the belts on the cassette player had decomposed and stretched and the mechanism to eject tapes would not function (my kids don’t know what cassettes are).

After a short exchange of messages with a chap abroad I got all the belts I needed for the grand sum of £3 and now all is functioning as it should.



This new found optimism in fixing old HiFi’s urged me on to see if I could fix my old ‘Boom Box’ and after receiving a new laser that cost £12.50, I’m happy to say I can again play my old CD’s whilst languishing in the bath (the kids play music on their phones and iPads whilst in the bathroom, but at least what I listen to won’t be interrupted by adverts)...

I’ve already been told to turn the volume down by the current Mrs ‘T’........ just got to get some batteries and walk down the street with it on my shoulder with the music blasting out whilst wearing a shell suit and my baseball cap on back to front.

Next month, there'll be a shiny new kitchen in there. I'm just trying to reduce the damage that can be done by "fitters".
