Right I've got a pretty awful looking rear pipe and was wondering what people have on their bays ??? And prices?
Untitled by chris_r582, on Flickr Ive got this EMPI system on mine. It was cheap (under £100 for everything) but i must admit with it only being on my van for just over a year its starting to look abit sorry for its self.
If you've got any money buy a stainless. Yours is a type 1 engine and they're typically not so expensive. Fit and forget. A stock exhaust will last a fair while too but a stainless one will outlive the van. Empi serve a purpose but go soggy after about a year, though I've known people eek 5+ years out of them
empi are good to get you out of a hole but original or stainless is best. Ive got a empi twin pipe on mine and it's been on a year. there's already rust on it. it's going to get another coar of paint while the engine's out. no holes but I'm thinking you have to keep an eye on them
That's the best thing I've ever read about Empi exhausts. Normally they rust as they come out of the box. Personally I'd avoid like the plague.
I have a Bluebird Customs stainless header and a Turbo Thomas stainless quiet pack tail-pipe. Before next winter I will have a pair of PD Gough stainless heat exchangers. It looks like a quiet pack, but it'e better & about to get better still.
My Empi rusted within a day of fitting! So I fitted this s/h stainless Bug exhaust. However I've now bought a Vintage Speed Stainless System to fit when I get the Bus back from Paul.
I have got a rusty empi.I love this exhaust, where did you get it from?.Would like one on raymond. Will it fit a 2ltr type 4?
